Interactive Forum August 2020: Ugo Humbert Backhand

    Ugo Humbert Backhand

Like his forehand we featured last month (Click Here), Ugo hits the hell out of the backhand. And like his forehand from behind the baseline. I note his fairly conservative grip with his top hand, and his great extension with the top arm, straight or very close. What else do you guys see? How high can you see him going?

Interesting how his racquet head doesn't get too much below the ball and his follow through ends further away from his left shoulder instead of wrapping around. That means the vector of forces are right behind the ball which would result in tremendous power.

      John -

Timely articles of Ugo Humbert's strokes. He's been playing impressively lately. He just beat Alex De Minaur 6-1,7-6 in the Antwerp finals.

He sure moves well for someone who has such a big stride. 2 shuffle steps or one crossover step and he almost is in the alleys!

I really like his all court game and tireless efficient movement.

Pegada boa para bolas do quadril para baixo e slices.
Bolas mais altas precisa escorregar a mão esquerda para uma pegada mais backhand semi western.
Joga com sua cabeça avançada antecipando os movimentos do oponente

Good grip for hip down balls and slices. Higher balls need to slip the left hand for a more backhand semi western grip. Play with your head forward anticipating your opponent's moves. ...Google translation
